Campaigns, Web and Social Media Internship!

Do you have a passion for international development and a belief in the power of campaigning to achieve change? If so, you might have found your match with a campaigns internship at End Water Poverty!

End Water Poverty is a dynamic international civil society coalition of over 190 NGOs in 45 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. We campaign for access to clean water and safe sanitation for all, in order to tackle a global crisis that kills 4,000 children every day.

You'll be involved in supporting our global campaigning work as we launch and develop a new campaign over the next six months. Your role will involve building support for and participation in our campaign activities and producing communications to our members such as website copy, blogs, newsletters and social networking.

We are currently developing a new website and are looking for someone who is web savvy and feels comfortable using content management systems. If you also have some knowledge and interest in the use of social media, you might be the person we are looking for!

The internship is offered on a three day a week basis and we require a commitment of at least three months. The successful candidate will be offered lunch and travel expenses and regular career development advice throughout the placement.

Could you be End Water Poverty's first Chair?

The End Water Poverty steering committee are looking for a Chair to lead the steering committee meetings and represent the campaign internationally. Its an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the campaign! Steering Committee Chair Job Description

The Steering Committee serves as the oversight and advisory committee to the End Water Poverty campaign and secretariat, and has members representing End Water Poverty in INGOs, Europe, US, Africa and South Asia. Meetings are held every 6 weeks by teleconference and annually in person.

We are looking for a Chair to lead this steering committee.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to work to end the global water and sanitation crisis.
  • Possesses a good understanding of End Water Poverty, with demonstrated participation in End Water Poverty activities.
  • Experience of chairing committees effectively and good meeting skills.
  • Ability to effectively represent and solicit community-wide interests and perspectives, and not be limited to personal or agency specific interests.
  • Ability to articulate and represent one’s own opinions while also respecting and valuing other diverse opinions in the committee and the broader community.
  • Good communication skills, and availability by email.
  • Willingness to contribute time and effort on follow-up items, individually and as part of a team.

 Responsibilities:

  • Chair the committee meetings.
  • Provide ongoing advice for the secretariat on steering committee work between meetings.
  • Have oversight of the secretariat and Task Team Chair’s annual work plans and draw areas of concern to the attention of the steering committee.
  • Represent the campaign externally, by agreement with the Secretariat, at key international meetings and in the media.
  • Intention to attend every meeting and to come to the international planning meeting.

Review and selection process: By election by steering committee members.

Meeting schedule/Time commitment: Meetings are up to 2 hours and held every six weeks. The international planning meetings have been between 3 - 5 days. Workload will vary but is estimated at a about an hour a week. The position will be open for election every year.
