End Water Poverty is supporting the Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP), the world's largest civil society movement calling for an end to poverty and inequality. This autumn, campaigners across the world are organising events during '50 days of action against poverty', until 20 October.

On the weekend of 17 - 19 October, GCAP is calling for individuals, groups and communities to stand up or raise your voiceto tell the world you are against global poverty and inequality. These events in over 100 countries worldwide aim to continue to pressure governments to take radical action to end poverty. This could be a great opportunity for End Water Poverty campaigners to get involved by standing and speaking out about the global water and sanitation crisis that is killing thousands of people each day.

This year GCAP is aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest number of people ever to 'stand up' against poverty. Last year, 43.7 million people took part. This year should be even bigger.

Why not organise a simple stand up event within your community? It could be in a school, church, workplace, football match or anywhere that groups of likeminded people can gather and show the world we want an end to global poverty. You could wear End Water Poverty Tshirts or ask people to raise their hands to symbolically represent the End Water Poverty logo. Whatever you do, you must make a noise and let those in power know you want an end to water and sanitation related poverty in particular! Don’t forget, register your event to be part of a record breaking moment in history!
