Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Dealing with contaminated water sources and inadequate sanitation are a daily struggle for many of it 140 million citizens.
Through the End Water Poverty campaign, people are able to highlight the harsh reality of their lives to national policy makers as well as to the international community - which continues to overlook the harmful results of poor or inaccessible basic services such as taps and toilets.
The campaign in Bangladesh has so far collected almost 500,000 pledges to End Water Poverty, news of which was sent to both the German Embassy in Dhaka and Chancellor Merkel's office in Germany.
But this is just the beginning. End Water Poverty demands water and sanitation be placed firmly on the agenda of national and international meetings so that plans are in place to instigate real and long-lasting change.
Achieving this needs strong political will. Through public pressure building in countries like Bangladesh we know this will be possible.
